The title for our blog comes from Psalm 40, a wonderful Psalm of David’s deliverance. David writes: “I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD.”
These verses resonate with us, as the three of us have also experienced God’s great work of rescue. God, in His sovereign grace and mercy, delivered each of us out of certain doom and destruction and placed our feet upon the Rock!
On this Rock we stand and from upon this Rock we speak. We speak as those who have been rescued, redeemed, awakened and transformed. We speak as those who are growing in our understanding of what all of this means and eager to see how it penetrates each part of our lives. We speak as those passionate about our salvation and committed to sharing this message of hope with others. We speak as husbands, fathers, men and brothers. We speak as part of the Body desiring to encourage the Body. We speak as grateful servants overwhelmed by what our Master has done.
And Out of the Miry Clay is our desire to have a conversation about all of these things. The target that drives our conversation is our faith. The goal of our conversation is growth: ours and yours. The topics of our conversation… well, only our Lord knows what the next topic might be.
We hope you’ll engage in this conversation with us and together talk about what life is like Out of the Miry Clay.
